City descritpion

The capital of the Canadian province of the same name was built in the 17th century as the first French settlement in Northern America. Numerous buildings in the well-preserved old town are reminiscent of that time.

Old town "Vieux Québec"
The old town of Quebec was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 and consists of an upper town at the Cap-Diamamt and a lower town on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River. The Place Royal where the first French settlement had been established, the Catholic cathedral Nôtre-Dame and the Anglican cathedral Holy Trinity are among the most important sights of this area. Upper and lower town are connected by a funicular.

La Citadelle
The star-shaped fortification was built in the 19th century in order to protect the entrance to the Saint Lawrence River and is still used as a barracks. Some parts of the fortification are open to the public and can be visited.

Château Frontenac
The imposing building from the year 1893 is situated at a hill above the Saint Lawrence River and houses one of the most exclusive hotels of the country.
